Mercenaries
Mercenaries (sometimes called mercs, heroes, or cards) are the core units of your Squad. There are currently 143 mercenaries in the game, 41 of which are Legendary. Each of them has a unique set of traits and abilities. Mercenary traits can be grouped by: Faction, Attack type, Rarity, and availability of their Mercenary Points.
You can view the list of all mercenaries on this page.
Faction
Mercenaries belong to factions. Each faction has a certain theme in the ability set that its mercenaries bring to the table. The current factions are:
- Peacekeepers — usually have balanced health/attack and more supportive abilities
- Freemen — usually have more health and more defensive abilities
- Syndicate — usually have more attack and more aggressive abilities
Attack type
Attack type determines where the mercenary can be placed on the board and how will they attack. The current attack types are:
- Melee — can only engage in the front two rows and can't attack with allies in front of them.
- Ranged — can only engage in the back two rows and can attack while behind allies.
Rarity
Mercenaries vary in their rarity. Rarity affects everything: stats, abilities, difficulty obtaining the mercenary, and Mercenary Points drop rate.
- Common — starter mercenaries that are effective at basic combat
- Rare — skilled mercenaries that can pack a punch and lunch
- Epic — advanced mercenaries with situationally exceptional abilities
- Legendary — strongest mercenaries with the most extensive ability sets
Mercenary Points Availability
A mercenary must first be unlocked before additional Mercenary Points can be obtained. Mercenaries are generally unlocked in one of two ways:
- League Locked — unlocked by advancing in League within the Ranked PvP
- Event Locked — unlocked through Global Events or purchases
Once a mercenary is unlocked, you can receive more of their Mercenary Points in Crates, Quests, Recruitments, and other common sources of MP.
